Assistant Merchandiser

The job role of the Assistant Merchandiser within the fashion industry is to help the Merchandising department deliver a profitable range whether it is womenswear, menswear, childrenswear, fashion accessories, footwear, lingerie or homeware. An AM will also ensure the smooth day to day running of the Fashion/Retail merchandising department by closely looking at the sales and reacting accordingly.

Reporting into the Merchandiser the Assistant Merchandiser is responsible for analysing all fashion sales and suggesting that more stock is ordered or that stock will need to be marked down in price or put into sale. The Assistant Merchandiser will work closely on this with the Assistant Buyer to ensure that the budget for the Buying and Merchandising departments within the fashion/ retail company is stuck to. As an Assistant Merchandiser you will manage the Merchandise Admin Assistant on a day to day basis and ensure that their job is completed correctly.

The Assistant Merchandiser will start to get involved with the Monday morning merchandising & trading meetings where they will review the previous week's fashion sales, and the best and worst sellers for the merchandising department. This meeting is attended by the Junior Merchandisers and Merchandisers from all departments and also the Directors.
