The job role of a Buying Manager / Head of Buying is ultimately to support, lead, manage and motivate individual fashion buying teams within a fashion buying head office. Depending on the size of the fashion organisation a Buying Manager / Head of Buying could be responsible for buying teams across just one fashion area i.e. womenswear, menswear, childrenswear, footwear, fashion accessories, or homeware. However within a smaller fashion retailer this could role could incorporate a broad range of fashion areas.
As a Buying Manager / Head of Buying the job will require you to be working alongside your fashion buying teams to ensure that commercial, yet profitable product ranges are developed and bought in order to maximise profit and sales. The Buying Manager / Head of Buying will ensure that the teams are all working in conjunction with the fashion brands buying strategy, the needs of the customer and the ultimate direction of the fashion/retail company.
Responsible for the overall management of the buying teams the fashion Buying Manager / Head of Buying will have come from a strong senior buying position, and will possess the skills and qualities that a strong buyer will require including outstanding negotiation skills.
